Nominate the 2012 Texas Master!
Deadline for Nominations: January 22, 2011
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft invites you to nominate the next Texas Master craft artist.
HCCC initiated its Texas Masters exhibition series in 2005 to provide much-needed recognition of Texas artists who have dedicated themselves to making craft, and is seeking a fourth awardee.
The other 3 are:
Harlan Butt
Cindy Hickok
and Rachel Thiewes.
HCCC is currently seeking nominations from across the state. All qualified nominees must:
- Live and work in Texas or have spent a significant time practicing in Texas
- Work in one of the craft media: wood, metal, glass, ceramic, fiber and/or repurposed materials
- Have received recognition for high levels of excellence and success in their discipline and/or made a significant impact in the craft community through their work, guidance, and contributions to the field.
Remember, surface design does necessarily always have to pertain to fabric!
Nominated artists will be reviewed by the Exhibitions Committee.
The chosen artist will receive a solo show in the fall of 2012, have a DVD made cataloguing their process and techniques, and will serve on the jury panel for CraftTexas 2014, the biennial juried exhibition highlighting the best of craft being produced in Texas today.
If you know someone who should be considered, we encourage you to download the nomination form and submit it by January 22, 2011.
